The Coral Exchange is a carbon capture and storage company. We capture carbon dioxide at industrial point sources and store it as dissolved bicarbonate, the form in which the ocean already holds most of its carbon.
Some industries cannot simply stop emitting. The usual answer is to capture their carbon and bury it underground, which needs pipelines and geological storage — expensive, slow to permit, and available in very few places. Most emitters have no route at all.
Carbon dioxide is taken from an industrial point source and stored as dissolved bicarbonate — the form in which the ocean already holds most of its carbon, stable there for tens of thousands of years. No pipeline, no reservoir, no monitored well.
We measure in two places: the carbon, before it is discharged, and the health of the water it enters. Discharge is tuned for that water — for shell formation, larval survival and the fisheries local people depend on — and measured on the ground rather than asserted. Carbon in the pipe and ecosystem in the pool. Both, or neither is worth much.
Every site is designed to fit the people, industries and ecosystems already there. Our early work is being developed with local landowners, scientists, fisheries and coastal authorities.
